Third army update : It puts the RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR in Army

The GREAT ONE has let it be known that my next army will put the RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR in Army from this I understand it to mean no Deamons of Chaos, as the others all have 'R' in their name.

So then there were six.
Dwarfs
Lizardmen
Ogre Kingdoms
Orcs and Goblins
The Empire
Warriors of Chaos

I have also been told no more clues, but i am sure i will be able to weasel one more out of her, all of these armies have potential and it in spades.

Until Sunday

Third army update : No flesh, No entry

The GREAT ONE has decreed that no FLESH no entry.
It appears that my next army is to have curves, so Tomb Kings you need not apply, you are too bony for my wife.
It took me a minute to realize what the GREAT ONE was getting at, it has been a long day already and I started to argue that this clue was rubbish until I got the boney end of the stick.(pardon the pun)

So Chris we were both wrong, alas Nagash was unable to exert power over her, bye bye my plans for Arkhan's Black Legion.

And then there where seven.

Daemons of Chaos
Dwarfs
Lizardmen
Ogre Kingdoms
Orcs and Goblins
The Empire
Warriors of Chaos

Now i am really getting nervous as i can see potential in all these armies, only time and act of wife will tell.

Cheers

JULY COMPLETE.
Well finally I have completed my last remaining eagle from my July goals , I am really happy with the results and like how the army as a whole is coming together. My take on Autumn themed wood elves is starting to look how I  thought it should.

This week I have managed to assembled and undercoated my remaining figures for the Duel and tonight I plan on starting my Spell weaver and hopefully have him finished before fathers day on Sunday.

Anyway time for pictures or it didn't happen.

Duelling Update
Still to Assembled.
NIL

Still to paint
1 kitbashed noble asb on foot
5 waywatchers

Painting in Progress
Citadel Wood
5 Wild riders
1 Spell Weaver on foot

Completed this Month
1 giant eagle

Front View, with the eagle and base already glued together

Raised front view to get a better idea of the colors of the feathers.

Left view, because of the weight of the eagle was forward on the base, that meant the tree needed to be right at the very back of the base so that the model as a whole balances correctly, this will make charging in the rear an interesting proposition to rank up correctly, but all will suffer for my art.

Rear view, the branch was added on the right of the tree to try and add  more dimension to the model as a whole.

Right view and not a bad picture of the wing colors.

Completed in past Months
Drycha
1 Spellsinger on foot
12 Dryads
Dryad unit filler
25 Glade Guard
6 Glade Riders
3 Treekin
Treeman
1 giant eagle

Until next time.
Cheers Lupus.

Third army update : It will not be the furred ones of Chaos

Wednesday has arrived and so too has another tidbit of information from the GREAT ONE.

Furred children of Chaos and of the Horned Rat have no place in the army,  my hopes of dry brushing an entire army have been dashed as Beastmen and Skaven are out of the running.

I have mixed feelings that Beastmen are out of it, they only have the Cygor that would count as artillery and two of those in an army would have been funny to field once or twice but not all the time, apart from that I do like Beastmen as an army and with my mate Jason was upset when the Warriors of Chaos stole the Ogres, Trolls and Dragon Ogres from them.

Skaven and their warpstone toys can be very powerful and fun, but in the past I have tried the brown army of death (BAD) and it did not hold my interest, my Clan Moulder army had a lot of rats and rat ogres and to be honest I loved that clan to this day, but I found the painting of 400 figures for a 2000 point army very daunting, still the look of horde armies when on the battlefield are a great sight.

With these two out of the running I am left with only eight ponies still in the race.

Daemons of Chaos
Dwarfs
Lizardmen
Ogre Kingdoms
Orcs and Goblins
The Empire
Tomb kings
Warriors of Chaos

All solid contenders with each of them having the basis of a good artillery base, some more suited to it than others but we will see what the GREAT ONE has ordained.

So an even spread of factions with three good, three bad and the two neutral to choose from, I eagerly await the next clue, as to what it shall be.

Third army update : It will not be the kin of the Asrai

Well over dinner last night my beloved decided to let me know that in five days it will not be another army of elves, so neither Khaine nor Asuryan will be worshiped, and no bolt thrower spam from me.
This has reduced the field to 10 likely contenders.
I cannot wait to see who gets culled tomorrow.

Duelling gamers : The clock is ticking.

The final month is upon us and I have a lot to complete in order to finish this duel on time, if I am to be honest I am not entirely sure that I will finish all of this by the end of the month.
It may be sometime in October before it is all finished, but that is not going to occur without a good hard slog at the painting table, with the wood, eagle and 5 wild riders still left to complete I have added the following to the target.

So on with my final shop for the Duel, my final $100 retail plus the $2.07 saved from last month I have purchased the following.
  1. 1 noble asb on foot for $4.00 kitbashed from various kits saving $19.00  but counting as $23.00 towards the challenge,
  2. 2 Waywatchers from birthday presents and 3 old school scarloc rangers which I have had since my teens , these I will be using as Waywatchers all these for $0.00 saving $48.34 but counting as $48.34 towards the challenge.
  3. 1 Spell Weaver for $0.00 from birthday presents saving $28.00 but counting as $28.00 towards the challenge
So money spent for this month is $99.34 and for the entire duel is a grand total of $697.27, all things considered as close as i could get to the target $700.

So after six months of purchases for my Wood elves my final breakdown of the expenses looks like this.
Actual money Spent $ 188.42
Actual money Saved $ 508.85
Games workshop retail equivalent $697.27

So all things considered , I have managed to build a Wood Elves army worth $700 Australian retail  and around the 2400 points mark for less than $200 Australian with a combination of trading , online stores, local games stores and of course timely birthday presents. Now the hard part needs to happen, all I have to do is have it painted and ready to go for Axemaster in three weeks time, which of course would be easier if I did not have to finish the balance of my  July / August painting.

Duelling Update

So the plan for this week is to finish the other eagle and the Spellweaver, with some minor conversions again to make him mine. Wish me luck we are on the home straight.

Third army update : It will not be the Knights of fair Bretonnia

Well after much badgering my dear wife admitted to me that my next army does not worship the Lady of the Lake.

When I asked her why she pointed out the angst that my ravening horde Chaos Dwarf list used to cause me when playing other armies and the dashed hopes i had that were dashed when the Storm of Chaos book only included a Hellcannon and not a complete list, until the Dawi Zharr was no longer even supported at all.
She did not want to go down that road if the Bretonnian crusade does not work, and another army I collected is phased out.

Anyway that is all for now.

Cheers
